Based on an ancient Chinese game played with tiles, Pai Gow Poker is played with a standard 52-card deck of cards, with players' hands ranked the same as traditional poker.

Each player receives seven cards, which are dealt face down, and then arranges them into two hands: a five-card hand and a two-card hand. The five-card hand must always outrank the smaller hand according to poker rules. If your high hand does not outrank your low hand, you lose your bet. The dealer receives seven cards and arranges them in like fashion.

The player wins when both his hands outrank both of the dealer's hands, and loses when both of the dealer's hands outrank his two hands. If the player wins one hand and loses the other, it is a stand-off, and if the player and dealer have equal hands the house wins.
